Angèle Dubeau’s ensemble, La Pietà, has played in Canada’s most prestigious venues. They are known for their exceptional virtuosity, impeccable precision, and rich interpretations, as well as the contagious happiness that enlivens their stage presence. Their program, entitled Myths and Legends,” will provide a glimpse of extraordinary creatures performing legendary acts.

ARADIA ENSEMBLE
PORT HOPE UNITED CHURCH

Aradia is one of the most exciting period instrument ensembles to emerge in recent years. Under Kevin Mallon, hailed as “Canada’s Crown Prince of Period Performance” (Wholenote), their concerts incorporate old-world artistry and modern-day relevance. They have performed across Canada and abroad, at the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival and Festival of Sacred Music; the New Zealand International Chamber Music Festival; the Festival nel Chiostro in Italy, the Haydn Festispiele Eisenstadt in Austria, and the Esterhazy Festival in Hungary. They will perform the great English oratorio, Messiah.

The Toronto Consort, Canada’s leading chamber ensemble, specializes in the music of the Middle Ages and Renaissance. They perform throughout Canada, the US, Great Britain and Europe, have collaborated with many leading early music specialists, and appeared with the Toronto Symphony under Andrew Davis, and the Montreal Symphony under Charles Dutoit. Their program, Da Vinci Codex, will provide a multimedia exploration of Italian music from the time of Leonardo.

Among the new generation of violinists, Augustin Hadelich has established himself as an eloquent and unique voice. He has performed with the Alabama Symphony, Hamburg Camerata, IRIS Chamber Orchestra, Jacksonville Symphony, Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra in Budapest, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Pacific Symphony, and the Tokyo Symphony, and given recitals in Tokyo, Osaka, La Jolla Music Society, and the Kennedy Center in Washington.

An enthusiastic recitalist, Ian Parker has performed across the US, Europe, Israel, and Canada. He was First Prize winner at the 2001 CBC National Radio Competition, and has also won the Grand Prize at the Canadian National Music Festival, the Corpus Christie International Competition, and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Competition. Heard regularly on CBC Radio, he has also performed live on WQXR in New York.
